SOURCES

The reference shelf

A source list is not a substitute for reading the source. It is a map of the organisations and documents that regularly help us frame questions about nutrition, preventive care, training, behaviour and adoption. Individual articles link to the most relevant document rather than presenting this page as a blanket endorsement of every statement on every site.

We prefer veterinary associations, public guidance, animal-welfare organisations and original documents. We also check the date, scope and intended audience before using a source. A source can be authoritative and still not answer the exact question a household is asking. That is why the article keeps its own limits and context.

If you know of a stronger primary source or spot an outdated link, send it to [email protected]. We record source changes during substantive article reviews and keep the reading list useful rather than merely long.

Nutrition

WSAVA Global Nutrition Guidelines and the WSAVA Global Nutrition Toolkit provide the recurring framework for label, formulation and feeding questions.

Preventive care

AAHA preventive-healthcare, feline preventive-care and senior-care guidance help frame conversations about life stage, records and veterinary visits.

Training and welfare

AVSAB position statements and RSPCA training and behaviour resources inform the humane training and welfare boundary used throughout the site.
